Furry Friends

We found two visitors to our autumn raspberries today.

The first is a very formidable looking fellow. With a bit of help from google, I have identified this as a vapourer moth caterpillar – the adult moth is much plainer than this spectacular creature. Apparently, the hairs can cause a skin reaction on contact so I shall leave it alone.

I have been unable to identify our other visitor so far, but suspect it is caterpillar to another less remarkable moth.

Just as long as they don’t eat our raspberries!
