Dwarf French Beans

The dwarf French beans that we were given in the spring by a relative (and gratefully received as the climbing French beans we sowed failed to germinate) have been covered in pretty little white flowers for a couple of weeks now. A closer look revealed that they have quietly been producing beautiful slim green beans which we have now started to harvest and enjoy.

They were hiding beneath the modest canopy of leaves – it’s amazing what a foot-high plant can conceal without close scrutiny. What a pleasant surprise!
