  1. Lovely images. I’ve just planted a hawthorn in the wild corner of our new back garden, such a wildlife magent of a plant. We inherited one that has a trunk about a foot in diameter. It almost makes it impossible to get a wheelbarrow round to the compost bins because it is right next to the path, but no way could I bring myself to remove it.

    • We inherited this hawthorn in the bottom corner of our garden, and I love it: for its spring blossom and autumn haws, and it is always popular with the birds, offering shelter and food. Fabulous that you have a mature one, as well as one to watch grow.
