Blossom

The winter-bare branches of the wild damson trees along our boundary have burst into a froth of white blossom.

Besides holding the promise of a feast of damsons to come, and pots of dark plummy jam; don’t they look beautiful against the blue sky?

  1. Blossom is one of my favourite things. My crab apple has only just opened in the last few days 6 weeks later than last year and my apple is just about to open. I love the really delicate scent of blossom too.

    • Our apples are only just starting to flower, and we’re a little worried about the lack of blossom on our pears this year – the strong winds aren’t helping!

  2. I particularly love damson blossom, and I do hope it’s not all being blown off by the return of winter. Hopefully there’ll still be enough to provide fruit for plenty of that jam – damson is such a delicious flavour. Yum… Ok, I know I’m anticipating. I’d better go and stick all my blossom down with glue…

    • Glue indeed, hasn’t the weather been vile for the past couple of days? I’m amazed that many things are still standing in our garden at the minute!
